A complete set for a traditional shave

The Vintage Shaving Kit brings the traditional barbers’ techniques of yesteryear back into style. It brings together the three essentials of traditional shaving to turn your daily routine into a truly personal moment.

Applied with a shaving brush, the traditional shaving soap creates a dense, creamy lather that softens the hair and prepares the skin for the blade. The butterfly razor opens with a simple twist of the handle to change the blade in seconds, and delivers a close, controlled shave.

The set comes with a men’s toiletry bag included in the kit, so you can store your shaving essentials and take your routine anywhere. Ideal as a gift for a birthday, Father’s Day, or the holiday season.

Instructions for a successful traditional shave

  • Rinse your face with hot water to open the pores and soften the beard
  • Wet the shaving brush, then swirl it over the soap to load it
  • Work up a lather on your face using circular motions
  • Hold the razor at about 30° and shave in the direction of hair growth without pressing down
  • Rinse with cold water, then apply an aftershave product
  • Rinse the shaving brush and razor, then leave them to air-dry

Tip: for an even closer shave, apply a second layer of lather and shave across the direction of hair growth.

Safety advice and precautions for use

  • Very sharp blades: handle with care, especially when changing the blade
  • Keep out of reach of children
  • Razor for personal use only
  • Do not use on irritated or injured skin, or on skin with spots
  • Soap for external use only; avoid contact with eyes
  • Dispose of used blades in a closed container

FAQ

Yes, the butterfly razor just takes a little getting used to. Hold it at an angle of about 30° and let the weight of the razor do the work without pressing down, and you’ll get the hang of it quickly. For the first few shaves, shave only in the direction of hair growth.

The butterfly razor uses standard double-edge blades that are easy to find. Its twist-to-open system lets you replace the blade in seconds, safely.

It is generally recommended to change the blade every 3 to 5 shaves, depending on the density of your beard. As soon as the blade catches or pulls, it’s time to replace it to maintain a clean, comfortable shave.

After each use, rinse the shaving brush with warm water to remove any soap residue, gently squeeze out the excess water, then leave it to air-dry with the bristles facing down. Avoid storing it while damp in a closed case to help preserve its bristles for longer.

The traditional shaving soap lathered with a badger brush creates a denser, richer foam. The brush lifts the hairs and gently exfoliates the skin, making it easier for the razor to glide and providing a smoother shave, in keeping with barbers’ traditional techniques.
