XIIIth Century:
Its origins date back
to the Middle Ages, when the monks established a
factory first for the manufacture of swords and later
surgical instruments.
XVIIIth Century:
The French Revolution ended the
religious use of the monastery, and it was sold to
the Vitry family in 1795.
XIXth Century: Vitry
became the most famous
maker of nail clippers in the world, supplier of many
royal families, and has participated in many
international shows:

1893 : Chicago / 1894
: Anvers / 1900 : Paris
1903 : Hanoï.
XXth Century :
1907: Thinet Company (established
in 1856) bought
Vitry.
Mr Jules Thinet invented the first razor with
disposable blades.
1954: His successor and
grandson,
Mr Maxence Villiers launched a range of manicure
and pedicure equipment for exclusive
pharmaceutical sale.
1986: pos Oscar award
1995: Vitry's factory is
still in Nogent, in the same
building.
